MAGGIE’S DOLL (DVD)

Time: 10-15 minutes
Materials: DVD player
- Play the DVD and encourage the children to “say with Steve“ where appropriate.
- Pause the DVD when the first toy hits Steve’s head and ask the children: “What is it? What colour is it?” and elicit the appropriate answers.
- Repeat for the second toy until Steve wakes up.
- Pause the clip again when there is a shot of the messy bedroom. Say: “What a mess! Who did this? Steve? No! Maggie? Yes! Naughty, naughty Maggie”.
- Pause when Steve finds the first toy on the floor and say: “Maggie wants a doll”, point to the (ball) and ask: “Is this a doll? Yes? No?” elicit no then say: “Maggie wants a doll and that isn’t a doll, it’s a (chorally) (ball)”.
- Repeat the above for all the other toys until Steve finally finds a doll. Then enjoy the rest of the clip with the children before saying “Goodnight” to Steve.
