Subject: Humans and their world
Cross-curricular links: English language, Physical education
Target language: pen, pencil, pencil case, pencil sharpener, rubber, ruler, book, table, chair, door, window etc.
Language structures: What is it? - It’s a/an (podstatné jméno).
Time: 10 minutes
Materials: flashcards or real objects
- Split the children into teams. Each team chooses a runner.
- The teacher stands at the other end of the classroom.
- Each team has its own set of pictures or objects.
- The teacher names one of the objects/cards “Please bring me a (pen).“
- (The pen) is found from the set of items, given to the runner, who takes it quickly to the teacher.
- The fastest runner wins a point for the whole team.
- Continue until everyone has had a turn.
- The winning team is the one with the most points.
Classroom language:

Note:
If the children are playing with real objects, take extra care. Apply all safety precautions and good sense.
