MY NAME’S STEVE (DVD)
(Greetings and Introducing)

• Play the whole clip without pauses.
• Play the DVD for a second time with pauses.
1st pause – stop the DVD after the first two Steves are introduced and before the third. Ask the children “Who is coming? What’s his name?“ Let the DVD run. The children find out whether they have answered correctly. Praise them for their correct answer “Well done.” 2nd pause – When the third Steve appears and everyone introduces themselves. Count how many Steves there are “How many Steves can you see? One, two or three?“ (show on your fingers). 3rd pause – after the point where the Steves present ask, ’who’s coming and what is he called?’ Again, let the children guess. “Who is coming? What’s his name?“ 4th pause – when the fourth character appears and introduces himself. Ask the children for his name “Who is this? What’s his name? Is his name Steve?“ Highlight that now there are 3 people called Steve and one called Simon and look confused yourself. 5th pause – Simon transforms into Steve. Comment and let the children finish the sentence: “Oh, it isn’t Simon. It’s …“
• Again let the DVD run and encourage the children to count along. Answer the question which Steve asks as a class. Count from 1 to 4.
• At the end of the clip wave and say goodbye to Steve “Bye-bye“.
• With more advanced pupils focus on the question and answer “How are you. Fine, thank you”. Stop the DVD and divide the class into Steves and Simons. Drill the question “how are you” with the Steves and then the answer “Fine thank you” with the Simons finally putting the question and answer together where the Simons immediately respond to the question asked by the Steves. After a while change the groups.
