Subject: Humans and their world
Cross-curricular links: English language, Art
Target language: dress, gloves, hat, jacket, jumper, pyjamas, scarf ,shirt, shoes, shorts, skirt, socks, T-shirt, trousers
Time: 15 minutes
Materials: pencil/crayons, paper
- Divide children into groups: "Make groups of four, please."
- Have children take out their crayons “Take out your crayons please.”
- Tell them to draw as many items of clothing as they can name in English. Give them a 5 minute time limit: “Draw all the clothes you know in English. You have got 5 minutes.”
- Children may discuss the issue within their group. The result counts for the whole group.
- When time is up, each group shows the pictures, names and counts them: “What’s on your list? Show us your picture, say in English and say how many you have got.”
- The group that has the highest number of correctly named pictures wins.
Note:
The activity can be adapted to practise any vocabulary.
