(Clothes)
Subject: Humans and their world
Cross-curricular links: English language
Target language: gloves, hat, jacket, jumper, shoes, shorts, skirt, socks, T-shirt, trousers; black, blue, brown, green, orange, pink, purple, red, yellow, white
Time: 15-20 minutes
Materials: clothes
- Bring clothes and shoes of various sizes, cuts, and colours to make the range varied and entertaining for children. Put everything on a pile on the floor.
- Invite the children to come to the pile of clothes individually or in groups, telling them what to put on and take off: "Eva, please, put on a red jumper. David, please take off the gloves.” This means that the children first have to find the right clothes in the pile.
- After all the children have taken their turn, you may show them individual pieces of clothes and ask them what the colour is, or possibly what parts of body we put it on: “What’s this? What colour is it? Where do you/we wear it?”
Variation 1:
To make the activity more exciting, it may take the form of a competition between groups. Divide students into teams. Each team sends a representative who has to find the right clothes and put them on as quickly as possible.
Variation 2:
The children may take turns in the role of the teacher; i.e. the instructions on what to put on/take off will be given by a student.
