TEETH RHYME
(Body)
Subject: Humans and their world
Cross-curricular links: English language
Time: 10 minutes
Materials: none; or possibly children’s toothbrushes and toothpaste
- Ask children to show you their teeth: "Please show me your teeth."
- Tell them you know a very nice rhyme about teeth; ask them to listen to it:
"I have a very nice rhyme about teeth. Listen, please:
I have a little toothbrush
I hold it very tight
I brush my teeth each morning
And then again at night." - While reciting the rhyme, use the toothbrush to demonstrate the contents. To distinguish between morning and evening teeth brushing, draw pictures of the sun and the moon on the blackboard and point at the sun with each morning and the moon with at night.
- Ask children to repeat after you (after a verse) and mime the meaning.
Variation:
Instead of the pantomime, you may use pictures - a comic (where each verse is represented by a picture) and show it to the children while reciting.
