Subject: Humans and their world
Cross-curricular links: English language
Target language: body, arm, hand, head, leg(s)
Language structures: possessive cases ’s
Time: 10 minutes
Materials: a large sheet of paper, pen
- Make a jigsaw student by preparing a sheet of paper big enough for the tallest child to lie down on.
- Sit the children in a circle and select one to come to the middle and lie down on the big piece of paper. Say: “Put your head here” and draw around the student’s head.
- Change the student and repeat for all the other major body parts.
- When you have finished pick up the drawing for all to see and have a laugh at how silly it looks and try to remember whose arms/legs etc. they are, using the question: “Whose (arm) is this?” to elicit “It’s (Petr’s) (arm)”.
- Finally colour and display.
