(Jobs)
Subject: Humans and their world
Cross-curricular links: English language, Humans and the world of work
Language structures: Are you a/an …? - Yes, I’m/No, I’m not.
Time: 15 minutes
Materials: flashcards
- Students sit in a circle; the teacher walks inside the circle, touching either the head or shoulder of a student, while saying: "duck". At some point, at random, he/she says “goose" instead of “duck”.
- The student named "goose" stands up, runs around the outside of the circle and returns to his/her place. He/she must not allow the teacher to touch him/her.
- Give each student a card with a picture of a profession. Ask them: “Are you a doctor?” Students answer either “Yes, I am” or “No, I’m not.”
- The student, whose answer is positive, runs around the circle, not allowing the teacher to touch him/her, and returns to his/her place. If the teacher touches a student before he/she manages to sit in his/her place, the student becomes the teacher and asks the others questions: “Are you a/an…?”
Note:
The activity can be adapted to practise any vocabulary.
