- First play the whole clip without pauses, but encourage the children to say with Steve.
- Before you play the DVD clip for a second time with pauses, show the children the handout and explain what they should do.
- Set the task to tick the animals on the worksheet which are also seen in the DVD clip, "What can you see?” elicit “I can see a/an (animal)”. “Good. Now when we watch again tick the animals you can see on Steve’s safari". Note: The activity can still be done with lower language level students by changing the question and answer chain to Steve’s original question “What is it?” elicit “It’s a/an (animal)”. “Good. Now tick the animals on Steve’s safari”.
- Distribute the handout and watch the DVD clip again. Pausing as each animal is shown on screen to allow the children a few seconds to find and tick off the animal on their handout. The children can check their work in small groups if required.
- Finally say “Goodbye” to Steve and collect in the children’s work.
