- Give the children the picnic handout, some pictures of different food and drinks and a plain sheet of paper in the shape of a lunch box.
- Get the children to cut out what they like to take to school as a snack “What are your favourite things? Cut them out“.
- Then the children stick the cut out pictures into the lunch box “Put the food into the lunch bag“.
- While the children are doing this walk around the classroom and comment “Ah, so (bananas) are your favourite (fruit)“.
- When the children have finished sticking the pictures on, show them the picture of a yoghurt and ask „Who’s got a yoghurt in their lunch bag? How many children?”
- Attach the (yoghurt) picture to the board and write the number of children who packed the yoghurt in their lunch box next to it.
- Continue in this way with the other food items.
