- Watch the DVD clip at first without pauses and encourage the children to respond to Steve’s questions. “Do you like chocolate? Yes, I do. Do you like chocolate on a pizza? No, I don’t.”
- Watch for a second time as above but add some pauses. Pause the DVD clip when Maggie takes something from the cupboard and check that the children can name the new item. Resume and pause again after Maggie puts the new ingredient on the pizza and the children have seen Steve’s reaction. Using a volunteer to stand in front of the screen and point to each ingredient, practice listing them as a class.
- Once the class has listed all the ingredients, walk up to the screen and pretend to take a slice of the pizza and offer a bite to a confident student. Encourage the child to play along and make funny faces while eating. Ask “Do you like ketchup, and chocolate pizzas?” and help them with thumbs up or down to respond “Yes, I do” or “No, I don’t”.
- Repeat the above two stages each time Maggie selects another ingredient.
- Finally, wave and say goodbye to Steve and Maggie.
Extension Activity:
In small groups ask the children to draw a pizza with all the ingredients mentioned in the DVD clip. Give points for all the correct ingredients drawn and or named.
