Language structures: can in a question and a short answer
Time: 10 minutes
- Put a happy face with the word YES on one side of the classroom and a sad face with the word NO on the other.
- In small groups ask the children to run to the correct end of the room in response to your question “Can elephants fly?” or “Can hippos swim?“.
- Drill the response Yes, it can/No it can’t if your children are advanced enough.
Note:
The activity can be adapted to practise any vocabulary.
